Position Summary


Although the Second Grade Operator reports administratively to the Plant Manager, the incumbent will work under the direction of the Lead Operator. Because of the structure of the Clifton plant, the Second Grade Operator may also be utilized to perform functions within the Warehouse and Maintenance areas.  Incumbent may work under the direction of either the Warehouse Manager or Maintenance Technician.


Essential Responsibilities


  • Performs manufacturing tasks including charging, heating, applying vacuum, sampling, washing, adjusting, and cooling under the direction of Lead Operator.


  • Sets up containers and packages products from reactors into drums, totes, and pails.


  • Operates forklift to transfer raw materials and finished products.


  • Loads and unloads bulk materials into tank trucks and storage tanks.


  • Records data and other information on production batch sheets and forms.


  • Assists the Warehouse or Maintenance Departments as needed.


Qualifications & Experience


  • High school diploma required.


  • Must be able to obtain forklift certification.


  • Must have proficient problem-solving skills.


  • Proficient knowledge in the use of manual hand tools


  • Basic math and computer skills necessary.  Good verbal and written communication skills.


  • Must be knowledgeable in the handling of chemicals.


  • Has a good understanding of the use of processing equipment including vacuum systems, pumps, valves, hoses, fittings, agitators, filters, compressed air, cooling systems, and scales.


Working Conditions


  • Must be able to lift 55 pounds.


  • Must qualify to wear an air purifying respirator for use when handling hazardous materials and emergency response.  Must be able to wear all other required PPE (personal protective equipment), as required.


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


  • Follow all safety, security, plant, and ethics rules.
