The Facilities Specialist reports to the Plant Manager. The position’s main responsibility is to ensure that the Clifton facility is properly maintained with minimum equipment down time.  Specific job functions for the Facilities Specialist position are described as follows:

 

 Specific Job Functions

 AMechanical Related Responsibilities (Hands-on):

  1. Must be familiar with the use of mechanical hand tools, electrical testing devices, welding machines, pipe threading machines, and plumbing tools.
  1. Must be able to handle 50 pounds minimum.
  1. Repairs steam and water leaks in threaded, welded, and soldered steel, copper, and plastic piping.
  1. Repairs other mechanical issues that include valves, flanges, fittings, hoses, pumps, scales, piping, vacuum systems, and heat exchangers.
  1. Performs weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance.
  1. Helps to maintain and operate high pressure steam boilers.
  1. Performs minor electrical repairs.
  1. Has a good understanding of the operation of centrifugal, diaphragm, and gear pumps. Can replace mechanical seals when required.
  1. Can perform minor repairs to LP forklifts, doors, windows, and other facility infrastructure.
  1. Can perform entry into production vessels for maintenance work under a confined space permit.

 

 BNon-Mechanical Related Responsibilities:

  1. Follows all plant safety, security, and ethics rules.
  1. Proficient in the English language and writing.
  1. Gets along with others and is a team player.
  1. Familiar with safe work practices that include hot work, confined space, lock-out/tag-out, and line breaking.
  1. Familiar with LEL, oxygen, and carbon monoxide monitoring.
  1. Familiar with the use of personal protective equipment that includes an air purifying respirator, welding equipment, face shield, gloves, safety glasses and goggles, and a hard hat.
  1. Familiar with the handling of corrosive, flammable, and combustible chemicals.
  1. Familiar with vacuum pumps, heat exchangers, pressure regulators, relief valves, rupture disks, filters, scales, and cooling towers.  
  1. Conducts and documents daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections of plant and safety equipment.
  1. Maintains equipment files and work orders.
  1. Monitors and places requisitions for plant related equipment that includes valves, fittings, hoses, pump parts, etc.  
  1. Organizes and supervises contractors on larger maintenance projects and capital projects.
  1. Conducts annual ultrasonic thickness testing of production reactors.
  1. Able to enter purchase requisitions and receipts into the SAP computer system.
  1. Assists the Plant Manager with capital planning and other maintenance related work and projects.  

Education – Experience Requirements

Five years minimum experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repair work. Must be able to perform basic mechanical work, conventional welding, pipe fitting, soldering, and minor electrical repairs. Also, must be able to coordinate and supervise contractors for larger maintenance work and small capital projects.

 

A high school diploma is a must. Computer skills are helpful. A black seal boiler operator license is required as a minimum. Training for the boiler operator license will be provided if necessary.

 

Must be willing to work outside of normal day shift hours, as needed to support plant requirements.
