Summary of Responsibilities

 

The Account Manager based in the Midwest - North America will be accountable for representing our product offering within their territory, focusing on product-specific sales targets, new business development, troubleshooting customer requests, and establishing/building long-term relationships with current customers, prospects, and national and local accounts.

 

Essential Job Functions  
 

  • Lead the sales and market development activities to promote growth of the business for assigned accounts and territories
  • Manage the entire sales process from prospecting to closing
  • Foster and grow the appropriate business relationships both internally and externally
  • Develop and implement sales plans at the territory and account level
  • Effectively communicate with internal R&D, Marketing, and Operations group.
  • Develop, negotiate, and close sales contracts and agreements
  • Create and implement account plans that are well aligned with the business strategy.
  • Comply with administrative requirements (call reports, forecasting, expense reports, etc.)
  • Represent Lubrizol at trade shows, conferences, and at local industry associations
  • Engage closely with Marketing to identify and evaluate new, high value opportunities.
  • Develop and manage annual territory budget
  • Identify and evaluate market opportunities to be able to enter new and growing applications, identify and support the launch of new products

 

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of professional technical sales experience
  • Strong knowledge of the coatings industry or demonstrated technical aptitude.
  • Willing and able to travel 50% of the time
  • Tactical and strategic thinking and business acumen skills
  • Strong negotiation, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities and a strong drive for results
  • Demonstrated successes in implementing new product, solution, technology and value selling programs
  • Technically competent, ability to rapidly learn the key characteristics of products and technical capabilities
  • Results Driven and customer focus
