Accountability statement:

Accountable for determining the Supply Plan of procured, intercompany, toll manufactured and produced materials in the mid-term horizon according to demand forecasts, taking inventory, company targets, supply- and capacity limitations into account to assure a superior customer experience with a focus on safety and risk management.

 

Summary of Area of Responsibility

The Supply Planner has a key role in the Supply Chain organization, supporting business continuity and customer satisfaction by owning and driving the Supply Plan in the mid-term horizon (14 days – 18 months).  This includes the following areas:

  • Supply Plan determination and review (analysis of supply/demand data and anticipation on upcoming changes)
  • Constraint maintenance and Capacity Utilization review
  • Governance and optimization of all planning related Master Data (supply plan drivers)
  • Inventory Management
  • Supply Review for Sales & Operations Planning Process
  • Leading a team of intercompany schedulers

 

Essential Role Functions:

  • Supply Plan determination and review:   The Supply Planner is responsible for determining, reviewing and analyzing the Supply Plan in order to define whether the demand plan can be met taking supply limitations and capacity constraints into account.   The utilization of concurrent planning technology will allow the Supply Planner to proactively identify potential issues.  The resolution of demand and supply at risk by adjusting sourcing options or constraint data in collaboration with the Strategic Planners is essential.  The desired outcome is to deliver a supply plan which is an optimal reference for all replenishment activities in the scheduling horizon taken into account inventory levels and foreseen demand.
  • Constraint maintenance and Capacity Utilization review:   The Supply Planner develops a detailed understanding of manufacturing constraints and capabilities of the manufacturing locations being planned in order to be able to model these constraints into the planning technology used. This will allow the Supply Planner to identify and analyze constraint problems including an early detection and proactive management of over and under-utilized resources (equipement/Raw Materials/inventory levels/…).   A systematic two-way communication to discuss the Capacity (constraint) Plan between the Supply Planner, the Strategic Planner and Manufacturing Operations teams is key.  
  • Governance and optimization planning related Master Data:   The Supply Planner is accountable for maintaining and optimizing all planning related master data as drivers for an optimal supply plan.

(lead times, minimum runtimes, safety stocks,…)

  • Inventory Management:   The Supply Planner is responsible for defining and  maintaining appropriate inventory levels by reviewing system proposed safety stock levels on a monthly basis  in order to ensure a timely material availability and to minimize the impact of demand volatilities.  The Supply Planner monitors Days of Coverage to review the inventory position and initiates actions to achieve target.
  • Supply Review for Sales & Operations Planning Process: The Supply Planner supports the Sales & Operations Planning Process by preparing and presenting the Supply Review in regional S&OP meetings.
  • Communication with Demand Planners and Commercial Stakeholders: The Supply Planner initiates internal communications with Demand Planners and Commercial Stakeholders based on changes in the demand curves noticed. (participates in the demand review)
  • Technology: The Concurrent Planning Solution used by the Supply Planner is Kinaxis RapidResponse
  • Intercompany stock transfer scheduling: leading a team of IC schedulers
  • Metrics:   The Supply Planner is responsible for monitoring and driving continuous improvement to the following Metrics:
    • Plan Compliance (Planned vs Actual) à metric to be defined
    • Inventory Days of Coverage
    • NWSM

 

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, other Requirements:  

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, Logistics Management or other relevant degree with proven data analytics skills
  • At least 3 years of experience working in Supply Planning, Supply Chain Management or Logistics Management
  • Detailed knowledge on Supply Planning and Inventory Management
  • Advanced mathematical and analytical skills
  • SAP proficiency (including BOBJ)
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel
  • Ability to identify and anticipate on potential supply issues
  • Passion for excellence and continuous improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills – able to present the supply plan and discuss supply review topics with all stakeholders
  • Additional language skills – English is a must

  • Work experience relevant to LZ E2E supply chain processes and analysis . This may include Supply Chain Management, Supply Planning,  Inventory Management, Demand Management, SAP/BW, Operations
