Summary of Responsibilities:

Technical Specialist role within R&D, which supports Lubrizol Life Science business through material characterization, test methodology development and maintenance of the laboratory equipment.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with senior researchers to characterize materials and assist in development of new test methodologies
  • Independently perform laboratory work in accordance to specified procedures
  • Collect, interpret and communicate results to supervisor, colleagues and customers
  • Maintain and safely operate laboratory test equipment
  • Write / update Standard Operating Procedures for lab test equipment
  • Document experimental results and enter them into electronic notebook
  • Perform administrative and technical support functions necessary to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the lab
  • Ensure compliance of safety procedures and good housekeeping practices and notify management of incidents and learning occurrences immediately


Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science related field is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience with analytical instrumentation
  • Experience with instrument customization preferred
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good communications and basic math skills
  • Fluent in spoken English and capable of writing reports and presentations
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with photography is beneficial
