Reporting to the Global Manager of Technical Service, the Technical Service Specialist provides technical support and service to current and potential customers, in alignment with current business priorities. This includes introduction of new products for both existing business and growth opportunities. This role will also work with the R&D applications group to provide product/processing assessments on new products and product issues, based on customers’ processes.


Accountability Statement:

The Technical Service Specialist is accountable for supporting TempRite® by providing technical service and support in the Americas while delivering technical guidance to R&D personnel and new and existing customers to meet our business objectives and 5% UOI growth.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support and training to the production facilities and internal and external customers in the areas of quality control, customer support and technical guidance regarding production processes.
  • Supports the development and introduction of new products, applications, and approvals. Supports technical programs with business directives which enhance customer intimacy programs.
  • Supports sales and marketing and application development programs.
  • Acts as a technical resource across the business segment.
  • Provides pragmatic solutions for customer issues or complaints through evaluation and guidance.
  • Works directly with manufacturing to achieve targeted results and resolve issues.
  • Supports sales and marketing efforts to expand Lubrizol’s position within the industry.
  • Provides technical data, reports, and communications regarding customer’s status or issues.
  • Ensures effective communication across at all levels of the organization and between key stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrates a high level of safety awareness and adherence to safety processes.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous industrial experience in plastics processing industry (molding, extrusion experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics to varying stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Project management skills, including the ability to understand key deliverables and actions needed to accomplish results
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally as business need requires 


Considered a plus:

  • Associate degree or higher in the chemical, polymer, engineering or related technical field
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Knowledge of ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards and approval agencies
