Reporting to the Technical Service Manager, the Technical Service Specialist will conduct laboratory tasks/experiments, run tests (mainly injection molding and some extrusion) and operate other equipment, record results and input data into an electronic system. The Technical Service Specialist will also validate customer complaints and coordinate sample evaluations by writing work orders and submitting them to analysis.

 

A day in the life typically includes:

  • Performing laboratory work in accordance with procedures and objectives outlined by the requester
  • Supporting internal and external customers with a high sense of urgency and customer focus
  • Preparing technical reports which highlight key results and entering reports electronically upon completion of the laboratory work
  • Maintaining lab equipment and demonstrating a high level of safety awareness and adherence to safety processes; ensuring good housekeeping practices and escalating concerns immediately.
  • Writing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab equipment
  • Performing administrative and technical support functions as necessary to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the lab

 

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of injection molding experience or working in the injection molding field
  • Ability to partner with key stakeholders (R&D engineers/scientists) to understand deliverables and actions needed to accomplish results
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics to varying stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Fluent in spoken English and capable of writing reports and presentations
  • Strong computer skills, including utilization of Microsoft office products
  • Willing to travel as required

 

Considered a plus:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in the chemical, polymer processing, engineering or other science-related field (or similar)
