Summary of Responsibilities           

The material traceability and sustainability manager in Lubrizol Life Science (LLS) is responsible for developing and implementing policies and practices to ensure sustainable practices for sourcing,  supplier engagement/partnerships and collaborative initiatives with NGOs.  In order to be successful, influencing and driving change internally  and working collaboratively with other functions including corporate procurement and operations is critical.  The material traceability and sustainability manager will collaborate and lead in implementing best practices, legal standards, supply chain decisions (inventory locations, minimum inventories, BCP, second sources, etc) and take the lead in renewing contracts and purchasing decisions.  This role will help LLS develop the infrastructure and process to ensure ingredient traceability, including management of confidentiality and supplier contractual obligations in addressing requests from customers. This position will serve as a key partner to understand the market trends and develop effective strategies that differentiates us from competitors.  


Essential Job Functions :

  • Design and lead LLS sustainable strategy for nature-based product portfolio
  • Work with corporate functions (procurement, operations etc.) to ensure successful execution of LLS strategy and alignment with corporate processes
  • Monitoring and execution of mapping of feedstocks and sourcing knowledge for natural feedstocks
  • Work closely with innovation team in addressing sourcing needs and proactive assessment of supply chain strategies
  • Lead and manage 3rd party certifications including RSPO, COSMOS etc.
  • Acts as the primary contact for sourcing issues and manages requests for certifications, sourcing information and traceability.
  • Lead and develop strategies for disclosure and transparency initiatives driven by 3rd party certification agencies
  • Identify and create new opportunities around sustainable sourcing based on market and customer needs
  • Lead collaborative initiatives with NGO (s)  to develop sustainable sourcing programs with positive impact on local communities and environment
  • Help define broader communication strategy with the business
  • Understand sustainability attributes of LLS products, including their  impact on finished products.


Skills, Qualifications, Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related science discipline
  • Prior experience (3 – 5 years) in sourcing & procurement function  preferably including botanicals, feedstocks for biopolymers, fermentation derived ingredients for beauty/food industry
  • Expertise with management and strategy related to sourcing partnerships (suppliers, NGOs)
  • 3rd party certifications for sustainable sourcing
  • Global trends, sustainability requirements, biodiversity regulations etc.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrate influence with internal and external groups.
