Summary of Responsibilities

            

The Sr. HR Business Partner,located in Brecksville, is a key member of the Engineered Materials (3 GBU’s headed up by a Vice President) and the Performance Coatings Group leadership teams, as well as the global HR team. This is a strategic business partner position responsible for working in a global matrix environment, leading the execution of HR objectives including workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, leadership development, coaching, change and organizational design initiatives.

 

Essential Job Functions  

 

  • Consult with VP and GM to identify and address root causes of issues, systematically provide potential solutions and lead resulting organizational change.
  • Partner and work closely with HR Centers of Expertise (talent acquisition, compensation, learning & development, benefits, payroll) in the implementation of corporate policies, practices and processes.
  • Partner and work closely with business leaders and HR partners to ensure effective resolution of emergent issues (e.g., support employee relations/performance management counseling and corrective action, etc.). Ensure leadership team is appropriately briefed and consulted on issues pertaining to their teams.
  • Lead and support the development of the workforce plan; identify talent challenges and suggest plans to close gaps; develop talent-related metrics for the business and measure current performance. Track and trend people related data.  Partner with talent development to facilitate leadership and team development programs in support of the plan objectives and business performance.
  • Support performance and career management, and employee development with a focus on developing key employees and the high potential employee talent pool.
  • Conduct equity and utilization analyses of compensation programs including merit, incentive plans, rewards & recognition and promotion; identifies compensation issues impacting client groups and works with compensation specialists to resolve.  Ensures accuracy of employee data in SAP.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to create a strategic recruitment plan for the identification, sourcing and hiring of top talent, and to identify potential roles, rotations or assignments for current employees to maintain the health of the overall organization.
  • Partners with business groups to develop and/or assess the effectiveness of career paths, job ladders, and job descriptions; ensures validity and consistency of use within the business unit.
  • Support M&A activities, particularly in leading change management and in planning and executing the activities required to integrate an acquisition into our people systems, processes and culture.
  • Build relationships to become a fully contributing, equal partner with the business unit leaders and supporting organizations.  This requires an understanding of the business vision and strategy, products and processes, customers, industry, financial performance, culture and values.

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management or related field and a minimum of 8+ years HR experience with at least 4 years of generalist experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledgeable of change management and leadership development processes.
  • Knowledgeable of HR processes, programs, policies and systems and ability to communicate same to employees and management.
  • Able to deal effectively with ambiguity and change; comfortable with uncertainty.
  • Comfortable with and able to influence senior managers; accepts and deals effectively with global and local complexities.
  • Ability to provide positive and corrective feedback to others and manages people problems at all organizational levels.
  • Work effectively with other team members to solve problems and implement solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong MS-Office skills; familiarity with SAP HR preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Travel is less than 10% annually, with approx. 2 trips internationally.
