Lubrizol has an immediate need for a Scientist in our skin care applications team.  This person will work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional project teams to deliver new ingredients and concepts in skin care, sun care, and color cosmetics.



  • Execute projects for skin care applications under the direction of a Senior Scientist and/or Manager
  • Work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional project teams to introduce new solutions to the skin care market
  • Plan, organize and develop new formulations, concepts, and testing methodologies to support global product launches, in accordance with technical procedures, and targeted legislations
  • Explore new applications and enhanced formulation benefits with leveraged products in skin care formulations
  • Ensure experimental products and new formulation concepts are evaluated against appropriate benchmarks using accepted protocols
  • Conduct and manage scientific experiments:  Accurately record, interpret, analyze, and draw conclusions from data. 
  • Regularly communicate results and recommendations to project and leadership teams
  • Support marketing to develop technical literature for new products and applications concepts
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments, results, and conclusions
  • Follow safe laboratory practices.
  • Train internal colleagues, distributors, and customers on new concepts and product launches
  • Up to 10% travel
  • Meet or exceed customer expectations


Requirements - Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field from accredited college/university
  • Minimum 1 year experience formulating and testing skin care ingredients/products (Sun care, color cosmetics, emulsions, gels, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Knowledge of skin care regional trends, product formats, and customer base
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, results-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work safely within Lubrizol laboratories
  • Ability to travel as needed
