Job Scope

As part of the Global Customer Assistance (CA) team, the Global Sample Planning & Replenishment Manager will be responsible for creating and executing the most optimal supply plan that balances customer experience and cost-to-serve, while contributing to the development of talent and capabilities for continuous improvement in the area of Sample Supply Planning & Replenishment. The Global Sample Planning & Replenishment Manager will develop strategies to manage the trade-off between demand, supply, working capital and cost across all businesses.  

 

Under the direction of the Global Customer Assistance Manager, the Global Sample Planning & Replenishment Manager will work closely with the Global Supply Chain Managers, Global Product Managers, and Customer Service to understand demand plan and translate that into the most optimal production and inventory plan for samples. This leadership role will have high visibility at all levels of LZAM leadership including from operations, commercial, and executive management.

 

The Global Sample Planning & Replenishment Manager role is accountable for managing a team of 4 sample planning agents across LZAM.

 

Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, reliability, efficiency, and superior customer experience
  • Supervise, coach, and develop team members in supply planning and inventory management
  • Manage inventory optimization and inventory control processes, including Non-Working Slow Moving (NWSM) inventory
  • Embrace and drive Supply Reviews for Global Samples
  • Identify, resolve, and escalate supply chain risks including but not limited to, production disruptions and inventory shortages
    • Provide regular updates on supply status, risks and opportunities to all key internal partners in real time during critical shortage situations
  • Manage a team of Sample Planning Agents who are responsible for:
    • Setting stock policies, safety stock levels, and replenishment
    • Maintaining sample master data across our SAP ERP system
    • Coordinating between plant personnel, process technology scientists, supply chain managers, customer service team, and commercial colleagues, in order to ensure that we meet customer order expectations, and maintain optimal inventory levels
    • Working closely with the Product Management & Sales teams, to manage and communicate material availability to deliver the best customer experience
    • Organizing, and directing, regional Sample Supply Reviews for their respective businesses

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Science, Math, Supply Chain, or related field of study. Extensive relevant experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of supply chain experience, minimum 2 years of supply planning experience 
  • Advanced computer skills in ERP systems and MS Office (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)
  • Strong customer focus: demonstrated ability to find customer-oriented solutions
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize across multiple functions with disparate needs
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, “high energy” team-oriented environment
  • Must demonstrate enthusiasm, a sense of urgency, attention to detail, commitment, and follow-through
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent work ethic

  • Experience working with global teams in multinational companies
  • People management experience
  • Experience in the chemicals industry
  • Advanced educational qualifications (e.g. MBA)
  • Experience in marketing, product management, customer service or sales
  • APICS certification (e.g. CPIM, CLTD, CSCP)
  • ERP proficiency (preferably SAP) in Plan to Manufacture (PTM) and Order to Cash (OTC), including BOBJ
  • ERP Implementation or Super User experience
  • Knowledge of specialty chemicals product portfolio / applications / technology
