The Sales Director, North America – Pharma & Nutra is responsible for providing commercial leadership to a team that is accountable for ensuring sustained growth of profitable sales in the North America Region for Pharma (Products – Excipients / Nutra Actives & Services – CDMO). 

Accountabilities will include team Leadership incl. development & succession planning, delivering on regional Sales & UoI targets, Sales & UoI planning / forecasting, management of the opportunity pipeline (incl. development, fine-tuning and ownership of the process from lead generation to revenue recognition), ensuring high levels of customer / market / prospect intimacy, new customer / opportunity acquisition, and in the case of Excipients, management of our Distributor network. Overall goal is to ensure sustained profitable YoY growth and delivering financial results for the region in-line with short- and long-term targets. 

What you will do:  

Work with team consisting of Sales, Business Development and Distribution Managers to:

  • Closely monitor sales/financial performance vs forecast and prior year and take action as needed to ensure we deliver on our financial forecasts
  • Foster a solutions-based, value selling culture with direct reports, customers, and prospects
  • Responsible for achieving targets for regional sales revenue, volume, material margin and gross profit
  • Management of direct accounts, inside sales accounts, and distributors
  • Identify, assess, and secure new sales opportunities – end to end ownership from lead generation to invoicing for both products and services.
  • Constructively engage with other functions to provide superior customer service
  • Work closely with marketing on value based commercial arrangements for our product and service offerings
  • Leading, directing, supporting, managing, motivating and developing the North America sales force and distribution network to meet business goals.
  • Along with the sales force, develop and implement key account strategies.
  • Strengthen customer intimacy with our current account base to defend existing business and develop/close incremental growth opportunities

 What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, chemistry, or engineering. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales, marketing or business management / development experience; including:
    • Strong network in the Pharma industry in North America across customer segments (Innovator, generic, OTC / Consumer)
    • Experience in the Pharma ingredients + Drug Product CDMO businesses
    • Demonstrated success at developing and implementing effective business strategies.
    • Successfully demonstrates B2B sales capability
    • Experience in developing comprehensive commercial plans
  • Experience with commercializing of finished dosage forms (either to consumers for a branded product or through BD&L activities) will be a definite plus
  • Travel 50%, mostly domestic.
