Summary of Responsibilities

Lubrizol is seeking a strong technical Scientist/Engineer candidate for our CPVC resin technology & sciences lab

 

Essential Job Functions  

  • Oversite of resin lab testing.  Including experimentations, interpretation, documentation and communication of results
  • Support the commercial technical directives for existing product lines and needs for alternate materials and or new product activities in conjunction with business priorities
  • Support customer and plant resin evaluations in concert with other activities to insure any new material implementations meet necessary criteria regarding expected quality and product consistency.  This should include consideration for quality, processing, handling of materials and approval body certifications
  • Liaise with plant initiatives to insure quality and process analysis and related efforts.  Issue detailed reports regarding resin property evaluations/comparisons
  • Provide support to pilot operations where needed, this includes resin lab chlorination reactions
  • Work as a member of cross-functional project teams, be a team player.  Act as functional representative in Manufacturing Authorization review meetings including plant meetings as they pertain to support for quality and process change/improvement efforts
  • Maintain records of experiments, results and conclusions with subsequent reports both mid-term and at project conclusion
  • Provide updates through regular issuance of written and verbal reports, this should include monthly updates


Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related scientific field from an accredited college/university
  • Knowledge of polymer process, associated testing, analysis and techniques
  • Strong fundamental knowledge in chemistry and chemical engineering principal’s, problem solving abilities
  • Self-starter, highly motivated toward achievements, results oriented
  • Ability to interpret chemistry and apply towards product properties or applications end use
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Customer focused-responsive to internal and external customer needs
  • Strong record keeping skills
  • Strong PC skills including MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and data analysis
  • Solid project management skills
  • Ability to work safely within LZAM laboratories
  • Ability to travel as required (less than 10%)

 

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Chemistry, Engineering or Polymer Science
  • Experience in chlorination chemistry, reactions and process
  • Industrial/Manufacturing process experience
