The Lubrizol Corporation has an immediate need for a highly motivated, results-oriented Product Steward Specialist for our location in Brecksville, Ohio.



  • Provide technical expertise and value-added product stewardship services to internal and/or external customers and their commercial partners, either proactively or in response to requests for support. Ensure customer new product approval data requests and significant changes to product labels and SDSs are communicated in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with market-specific applications in sensitive end-use applications for Lubrizol Advanced Materials, specifically performance coatings.  This responsibility is highly business specific.
  • Identify and communicate business opportunities and threats arising from current and future legislation and industry product stewardship trends in line with business or company-wide objectives; proactively monitor specific legislation and product stewardship trends, as required.
  • Integrate with defined business groups to develop intimate knowledge of business strategy, chemistry, products, end use application markets and associated product exposure scenarios to identify specific product stewardship issues and needs based on a comprehensive understanding of the business
  • Collaborate with R&D, Supply Chain and Operations organizations and specific business units to encourage product stewardship principles and practices throughout the product life cycle, thereby assisting the business in developing products with a lower hazard profile.
  • Facilitate between the business and the PSCD SME’s to align on priorities and the business needs.

  • Highly diverse markets served including many which are highly regulated. May involve heavy support for integration and post-integration for acquired businesses.
  • This is a highly cross-functional position having regular communications with all business commercial units, R&D, and Legal.
  • Communicate anticipated regulatory changes to assigned business related to markets served, geographic regions, and specific chemicals under regulatory restriction.  
  • Use professional judgment to manage complex regulatory challenges having multiple interpretations to meet business needs while adhering to corporate ethical and legal conduct guidelines.  
  • Empowered by global businesses to protect confidential business information from disclosure to 3rd parties without proper justification and protection.
  • Travel up to 10% of time.



  • BS degree in chemistry, toxicology, or related scientific discipline from an accredited college/university
  • Five years or more of regulatory, compliance or product stewardship experience
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and appropriately manage priorities
  • Detail oriented and results driven
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with computer basics and common business-related computer software programs



  • Higher degree in chemistry, toxicology, or related scientific discipline from an accredited college/university
  • Experience in a product stewardship, regulatory, or compliance position
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions
  • Practical experience in a product regulatory discipline or having other relevant industrial experience
  • Knowledge and experience in regulatory/hazard communication requirements in at least one geographic region
