Summary of Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for gathering and analyzing competitive intelligence and market conditions to develop proactive pricing strategies ensuring sustained profitable growth within the Beauty and Home business unit.  The strategic pricing manager will manage and improve pricing systems and tools collaborating with the sales, marketing, finance and product management teams to develop and implement price actions.
 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ongoing price management / optimization recommendations within the business unit to support sales and product management:
    • Assess geographic, market, and technology differences to determine the appropriate pricing strategy and structure
    • Using insights driven by data and analytics, design price structures aimed at optimizing value and driving desired customer buying behavior 
    • Educate commercial team members on pricing best practices, tools and strategies, including identifying price leaks
    • Develop and refresh profiles for key competitors/competitive products using publicly available data and information gathered by account managers to strengthen and inform our understanding of the competitive landscape and to enhance our product line strategies
    • Compile product line competitive intelligence, including recommending competitive counter strategies for the business 
    • Measure/track the impact of price increases to refine understanding of price elasticity by category, product
  • Owning in depth, ongoing and project specific pricing analysis and recommendations to:
    • Provide competitive perspective and input on key pricing decisions (RFQ, contracts, price increases, etc.)
    • Create models and scenarios to recommend responses to raw material changes or unplanned external market impacts using data from finance and supply chain 
  • Develop and implement price increase process including leading internal decision making and external communication (competitive intelligence, analysis, recommendations, customer talking points).
  • Complete system pricing admin and maintenance functions including producing standard reports.
  • Continuously improve and optimize internal tools and processes to maximize business value.

 

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum 5 years of pricing experience. 3 years minimum of using competitive insights for global strategic pricing across a diverse and complex portfolio of products.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to manipulate disparate data elements to create insights for price and market analytics.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex pricing and market information in an easy to understand manner; delivers messages effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan projects, analyze information, collaboratively drive profit improvement options and execute to achieve agreed upon results.
  • Experience negotiating and drafting customer contracts/bids/supply agreements a plus.
