The purpose of the TempRite R&D Operations Engineer is to accelerate the up-scaling and standardization of the department’s operations in support of TempRite’s future growth.
The TempRite R&D Operations Engineer performs a variety of duties pertaining to the day-to-day operation and continual improvement of TempRite R&D’s equipment, standards, and processes. The TempRite R&D Process Operations Engineer interfaces routinely with TempRite R&D’s technicians, researchers and technical services organizations, Brecksville Site Services, and other internal and external personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a mindset of Continuous Improvement within all aspects of work
- Drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, and delivery in the department
- Maintain ownership and oversight of TempRite R&D’s process standards and documents
- Provide first-level technical support for processing, equipment, and technical issues
- Conduct technician training on new and updated processes and equipment
- Support capital projects and expense modifications which add or modify department equipment
- Manage the department’s chemical inventory processes
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Polymer Engineering from accredited college or university
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering
- Hands-on mechanical and chemical engineering skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-starter with ability to manage timely delivery of results for multiple simultaneous projects
- Strong technical writing skills
Considered a Plus
- Experience in plastics processing (compounding, extrusion, injection molding, testing), specifically CPVC
- Experience with compliance to management systems (e.g. ISO, RCMS, etc.)
- Background with experimental design and data analysis
- Experience with SAP and/or Lubrizol’s internal Research Applications (e.g. ChemTestInfo, GBTRS, PAP/PPMP, Results Uploader, Research Application)
- Experience writing standard operating procedures, batch sheets, checklists, etc.
- Experience with PLC-controlled process equipment
- Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills including Power BI and Power Automate
