Summary of Responsibilities:

North America Logistics Procurement Manager would have the daily responsibility for managing all aspects of liquid bulk truck transport from Lubrizol plants, toll processors and third-party shipping facilities.

        

Essential Job Functions:

  • Identify cost-effective, safe, and reliable carriers for liquid bulk transport, supporting Lubrizol’s North America supply chain.      
  • Negotiate and maintain contracts for transportation services with bulk truck carriers for Lubrizol Additives and Advanced Materials. 
  • Vet new carriers and third-party logistics providers to secure sufficient coverage for all facilities in the Lubrizol network.  
  • Maintain metrics on core carriers’ performance.
  • Provide oversight to dedicated capacity systems for multiple facilities, including specialized-equipment contracts for niche businesses.
  • Conduct regular meetings with carrier personnel to ensure performance expectations are maintained and remain abreast of overall market conditions. Deliver market condition updates to management.
  • Work with Corporate Accounting and third-party freight payment company to ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Collaborate with department accounting specialist to resolve end-of- month variance report regarding freight discrepancies.
  • Provide carrier routing information and rates to Transportation Master Data Group.
  • Contact Lubrizol’s preferred carriers’ customer service and sales representative regarding service issues.
  • Provide backup assistance to facility scheduling personnel in times of limited capacity

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics/Supply Chain, or other related fields; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of Logistics operations/procurement experience
  • Experience with bulk truck transport and pricing
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, ability to prioritize, organize, and follow through is critical
  • Must possess superior interpersonal skills and professionalism. This position will interface with internal team members and external customer and business partners on a regular basis.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office software programs - cannot be intimidated by technology
  • Enthusiastic, diplomatic, and possess excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

 

Considered a plus:

  • SAP/S4 experience
  • Familiarity with 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Regulations.
