The position will be based in Brecksville, OH. This position’s primary responsibility will be to prepare and recycle or repurpose fabrics, films, injection molded parts and pellets. Secondary responsibility would be to prepare samples, test and document results.

Essential Job Functions:  

  • Set up and run experiments on shredder/granulator for shredding substrates like reclaimed fabrics, films, molded parts, fibers and/or pellets.
  • Prepare contaminant free shredded material by packaging, drying and appropriate labeling for regrind conversion.
  • Assist Process Team in converting shredded material into regrind pellets
  • Run (under supervision) small extrusion line and compression molding machine to prepare samples for testing.
  • Complete and report assigned testing like tensile, heat aging, melt-index, etc.
  • Maintain and upkeep operating equipment, data generated and process room.
  • Coordinate raw material flows and keep all areas visitor ready.
  • Coordinate sample shipments and maintain/stage incoming materials for the process.
  • Maintain and order spare-parts and lab supply whenever needed.
  • Proactively maintain a safe working environment and good housekeeping in lab areas.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma and with 3 to 5 years of experience in plastics extrusion or recycling or related technology.
  • Ability to think through problems, identify root causes, then propose and test solution to those problems
  • Ability to develop and run tests, report results and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to keep detailed records and observations using MS Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Ability and willingness to assist in other lab areas as needed.


Considered a Plus:

  • Ability to maintain, modify, and repair different types of extrusion, granulators and winding equipment.
  • Good knowledge of plastics processing, recycling and equipment
  • Experience with fibers, fabrics and finish application methods
