The Global Director of Marketing – Pharma is responsible for leading a team that analyzes, defines and implements the marketing and business development strategies for our key Pharmaceutical market segments – namely, Excipients - Oral Treatments, Oral Care, Topical, & Injectables and CDMO Services - Development + Commercial Manufacturing.” These strategies would include selecting market sub-segments, building, managing and maintaining overview of the innovation project pipeline, new business expansion opportunities, and providing commercial leadership for the segment. 

Accountabilities will include: Team Leadership incl. development & succession planning, assessing market potentials, regional marketing strategies (including identification of unmet needs and initiation of innovation projects in order to meet those needs), product strategies and campaigns, possible acquisition opportunities, partnerships, and assessing new ingredient opportunities and leadership of specific initiatives that will result in sustained profitable growth, delivering financial results in-line with short and long term targets. 

 What you will do:  

Work with team consisting of markets segment managers + product manager to

  • Ensure achievement of annual sales targets for each market segment globally, and also strategically position them to deliver sustainable long-term financial growth
  • Develop deeper market understanding of each segment and the ingredients used for different applications
  • Lead efforts to analyze market, market trends and make recommendations concerning product strategy and new business opportunities for business expansion
  • Identify trends (market as well as innovation) and unmet needs across our value chain
  • Implement a customer value proposition model based on market/customer segmentation and increase current marketing of our ingredients portfolio in each segment.
  • Identify gaps in our current capabilities / portfolio / project pipeline and develop action plans to address them, segment-wise and region-wise
  • Identify and translate unmet needs into an innovation product and project pipeline for each segment.
  • Liaise on an ongoing basis with Regions as well as Technical Representatives for each segment to build a robust project pipeline, including ownership and successful execution (in coordination with technical and commercial groups) of pipeline projects.
  • Own, monitor and manage global Tech Service spend
  • Launch new products, gain early market acceptance, and accelerate penetration.
  • Accelerate mindset change from selling products to selling unique, market facing solutions. 
  • Identify, generate and capture more value from both new and existing solutions.
  • Define and refine key strategic customers and establish strong collaborative relationships.
  • Liaise on an ongoing basis with the Connecting Marketing function to ensure appropriate MarComm activity in line with strategic goals for each market segment

 What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, chemistry, or engineering. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales, marketing or business management / development experience; including:
    • Value chain analysis, customer needs analysis, definition of value proposition, marketing positioning, and a track record of success.
    • Demonstrated success at developing and implementing effective business strategies.
    • Successfully demonstrates B2B market development & market research/analysis capability.
    • Experience in developing comprehensive marketing plans.
    • Experience with international markets.
  • Global experience in the Pharma ingredients business, experience on the finished dosage form side (OTC/Rx/Generic) will be a definite plus
  • Travel 30-40%, domestic and international.
