Process Development Chemist
Student Placement
At Lubrizol, we have a growing student community in the UK. On placement within the Blackley Process Development Team, you will have the opportunity to gain experience working within the area of polymer synthesis, organic chemistry and scale up. You could be working on either new product development or process development involving the scaling up of existing or new products.
What you will be doing:
- Working on the synthesis and development of novel polymeric dispersants for paints, inks or plastics
- Working on the production of large-scale samples for customer trials
- Performing synthetic experiments, keeping an up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook and be able to communicate results at meetings and quarterly check-ins
- Liaising with members of process development group and applications department at Blackley
What you will need:
- Studying towards a chemistry related degree involving a year in industry, achieving a 2:1 or above
- Lab based experience, whether at university or from work placements
- Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office programmes
- Ability to work both in a team and independently
- Ability to prioritise workload and projects accordingly
This role will be suitable for candidates with an interest in organic/polymer chemistry, who will be able to see the whole product development cycle from candidate identification, application performance and scale up.
