Summary of Responsibilities


The Global Business Development Manager is responsible to lead the Growth Program for   Composites from the Lubrizol performance coatings. The growth program covers all aspects of our go-to-market strategy, including expanding current sales, identify opportunities, and developing new business globally.


To achieve sales growth, the program considers the development and expansion of Lubrizol’s product portfolio.  To deliver that expansion the Global Business Development Manager is responsible to identify customer needs and satisfaction gaps and from there build the business cases that will drive the technology team on their product development projects. For the business cases It is expected from the position to bring the market information necessary for the economic viability analysis of the product development project, and most importantly, the elements for the value proposition that will sustain the differentiation and market positioning.


It is expected for this position to deliver proof of concept of the value propositions defined in the business cases for product development. With the proof of concept, the Business development manager will define and implement a strategy to expand its use in the market. To deliver proof of concept it will be required technical expertise and market-based application knowledge to be leveraged throughout the business as well as towards the market


This position will also build strategic alliances with external partners to expand our product portfolio of additives. It is expected during this process to identify potential candidates for M&As.  


As part of the responsibilities, the position will work in close cooperation with the global Sales, including channel partners and technical marketing teams, helping them to achieve their sales targets defined in the growth strategy. It is also expected that she/he identify commercial targets and define tactics and value proposition tools to communicate/convert to sales with them.


As the implementation of the program evolves, the strategy will be revisited and readjusted, and the Global Business Development Manager is expected to lead this process in collaboration with the Global Marketing managers.


Essential Job Functions  

  • Through their already established networks and customer contacts, identify trends and unmet needs.
  • Share and educate across PCG a deeper market understanding of Composites market and sub-segments within PCG as well as a thorough understanding of technology, formulations, applications, and performance requirements in this area
  • Support efforts to analyze market trends and make recommendations concerning product strategy
  • Define and refine key strategic customers and establish strong collaborative relationships
  • Expand Lubrizol’s basis for differentiation and competitive advantage in Composites and define how best to demonstrate this
  • Coordinate with regional teams the maintenance of the opportunity database to manage execution of key opportunities and projects 
  • Work closely with technical teams to meet pipeline project milestones
  • Support the Marketing and Marketing Communications manager in preparation of promotional and technical material for the Composites market (brochures, digital marketing tools, technical articles, presentations, etc.)


Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, chemistry, or engineering. 
  • KEY: Well established experience and knowledge of the Composites market segment, including both knowledge of value chain; customers, end users and suppliers, AND technical requirements and performance benefits of additives and raw materials used in different manufacturing processes
  • Recent experience of sales, marketing, or technical management in the Composites industry; including:
    • Demonstrated success at developing and implementing effective business strategies.
    • Successfully demonstrates B2B market development & market research/analysis capability.
    • Experience in developing product value propositions and market plans.
    • Experience with international markets.
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
