CPI  are looking to recruit a Transport Booker .  The role will be based remotely in the first instance and then from the  Barnsley or Billingham when we are able. 


In this role the candidate successfully appointed as the Transport Booker will be responsible for the daily transport ordering and all related activities acting as the interface between Transport Services, Commercial Division, Customer Service, Customer Assistance, Production Planning, Vendors and others where applicable.



The successful candidate will be responsible for: 


  • Daily planning, organisation & communication of transport orders towards LZ selected vendor for all transport modes using ERP and its tools
  • Daily monitoring and follow up on all freight orders with the LZ selected vendors, loading locations and customers but at the same time remaining in constant contact with/updating CSR’s, Planners or any other LZ internal contact
  • PO cost creation, accrual and invoice control in alignment with the agreed tariffs with the various LZ vendors
  • Issuing of relevant documents to facilitate the physical transportation of goods: Transport orders, shipping invoice, other required documents upon request
  • Key Performance Indicator monitoring and handling through:
    • Creation, handling and follow up on SCAR’s (= Vendor Corrective Action Request) with LZ selected vendors when and where required
    • Transport complaint receipt, follow up and resolution in cooperation with Customer Assistance and any other relevant internal/external vendor
  • First line of contact with the CSR, Planner & Procurement department for any immediate issues or (special) requests
  • Contribute to the ‘out of the box thinking’ in looking for better transportation solutions to facilitate our customers (price, quality, performance)
  • To adhere and promote compliance with company HS&E policies, practices and procedures.


To be successful in this role you will have: 


  • Bachelor in Logistics or equivalent working experience of minimum 2 years
  • Knowledge of Hazardous goods transportation terms and regulations
  • English written and verbal fluency and any other European language
  •    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •    Knowledge of SAP is desirable
  • Computer literate (XL, Word, PowerPoint a.o.)
  • Able to work in a team with a ‘do what you say, say what you do’ mentality
