Quality Control Manager

 

Location: Barnsley

Lubrizol is looking to recruit an experienced Quality Control Manager to join their team at Barnsley.

 

This role will Head Quality Control Department, ensuring that quality standards are maintained in accordance with ISO standards, maintaining the companies ISO registration by ensuring all departments adhere to the defined protocols & procedures.

 

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Provide site wide leadership to supply finished goods to our customers in the most effective way, paying attention to HS&E, quality, cost, time and people whilst adhering to Lubrizol Cultural Beliefs.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Perform quality testing on products in accordance with company procedures, ensuring a rapid and timely response to all enquiries or queries.
  • Lead the medium and long-term strategic direction of the Quality Department.
  • Ensure compliance to all business and legislative requirements.
  • Lead team to ensure competence of direct reports and implementation of people development.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with the health, safety, environmental and quality Company Rules
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Manage production weekly production & short-term scheduling in order to maximise on time deliveries keeping inventory on target.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Ensure compliance with Quality, ISO Environmental and continuous improvement systems for operations.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Coach the Quality Control Analyst so that they are sufficiently trained, motivated and developed to meet production goals.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Control the operational conditions that influence the costs in such a way that business objectives are met.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Execute production strategies and plan for improved technologies to ensure continuous improvement in operational productivity

 

To be successful, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related science/engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in the Chemical industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards for processing and manufacture of compounds / Dyes / Inks for industrial use.
  • Demonstrated ability in the area of product transfer and scale-up, from lab bench to manufacturing, and/or to commercial scale, including process design, design of experiments, and statistical applications to support process evaluation and trending.
  • Demonstrated ability to write documents required for compliance to current Good Manufacturing Practice, including Standard Operating Procedures, Master Batch Records, Validation Protocols and Summary Reports.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Management of Change advocate.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Lean techniques (5’s, VSM) an advantage.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Facilitator, collaborative and coaching style.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Analytical and sound problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Excellent planning and time management skills, meeting company and business deadlines.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Ability to work independently; honest and trustworthy.
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite & SAP.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment.

Barnsley is a town in South Yorkshire, England. Historically, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies on the River Dearne. The Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley had a population of 231,900 at the 2011 UK Census.  Barnsley is notable as a former industrial town centred on coal mining, glassmaking, wire and linen. All the mines in the borough are now closed, the last one being closed in 1994. Only glassmaking remains, with one company still operating. Although the industries declined in the 20th century, Barnsley's culture is rooted in its industrial heritage; Barnsley has a tradition of brass bands, originally created as social clubs for its mining communities. Grimethorpe Colliery Band is perhaps the best known brass band in Britain. It rose to fame in the film Brassed Off and is now the 'artist in residence' at the Royal College of Music, London.
