The Technology Manager/Supervisor will be accountable for the process safety, overall asset utilization, and equipment effectiveness for the TPU area.  This position will report to the TPU area manufacturing manager at the Avon Lake, OH facility.




  • Cultivate a culture of commitment to safety excellence while ensuring responsible and disciplined operations within the Avon Lake TPU unit.
  • Lead the Process Safety Management program for the TPU area, including the MOC process, PHA participation and follow-up, maintenance of Operating Procedures, operator training and certification as it relates to process knowledge, and development of Process Safety Information for the entire building.


  • Instill a continuous improvement mindset amongst the engineering team by aligning the TPU area with the principles of the Operations Reliability Management System (ORMS).
  • Lead work to identify, prioritize and execute projects that improve equipment reliability and uptime with the help of the site reliability team.
  • Monitor and implement ideas to maximize overall asset utilization (OAU) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Technical Excellence:

  • Coach and supervise the TPU area process/manufacturing engineers.  This includes on-boarding and training of new engineers.
  • Take ownership of all technical knowledge related to the Avon Lake TPU production unit and ensure the knowledge is accessible and transferable.
  • Coach other engineers though technical problem solving
  • Collaborate with process technology group to ensure the successful transfer of new products and technologies.
  • Work with project engineers to identify, provide justification and start-up support for capital projects.
  • Optimize utilization of distributed control system.
  • Domestic and international travel for training, meetings, customer visits and supplier visits may be required.
  • Lead the capital planning process for the TPU area and maintain a 5-year capital plan.


Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in chemical engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in chemical operations
  • Demonstrated process engineering skills, with an emphasis on troubleshooting and process improvement
  • Familiar with unit operations and able to learn and understand intricacies of specific chemical processes
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools and risk assessments
  • Knowledge of thermoplastic polyurethane chemistry and production


Considered a Plus:

  • Programming experience with Delta V DCS
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Experience with project engineering, construction processes, and project management.
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Graduate degree in chemical engineering
