The individual will report to the Avon Lake Engineering Manager and be responsible for project engineering in various process areas throughout the plant. In this role, the individual will participate as part of a team to identify process improvement modifications required to achieve these improvements.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Project Engineers work with the manufacturing departments to develop, estimate, execute and start up various improvement projects on chemical processes, utility systems and plant infrastructure that improve the plant infrastructure that improve plant productivity, efficiency, reliability, and plant safety.
  • In this role, the individual will develop Piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID’s), Process and Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) equipment specifications.
  • This individual will work with chemical operators to learn the process and how it is performed.
  • The individual will become familiar with the operating equipment and be able to troubleshoot problems to improve equipment performance.
  • Overall efforts are directed towards continually improving the overall production process to improve product quality, minimize operating costs and maintaining operational HS&E standards. 
  • Support the Process Safety Management program, including the MOC process, PHA participation and follow-up, maintenance of Operating Procedures, operator training and certification, and development of Process Safety Information.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintain/improve all HS&E initiatives for the plant.
  • Limited travel for training/meetings and customer/supplier visits may be required.

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering, or engineering degree with chemical manufacturing experience 
  • Demonstrated process engineering skills, with an emphasis on troubleshooting and process improvement
  • Familiar with unit operations and able to learn and understand intricacies of specific chemical processes

 

Considered a Plus:

  • Experience with project engineering, construction processes, and project management.
  • Programming experience with Delta V DCS
  • M.S. Degree in Engineering
  • A Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio.
  • Knowledge of SAP
