  • Perform all tasks safely observing Health, Safety and Environmental procedures. This Includes:
    - abiding by plant and department PPE requirements
    - following plant safety procedures and cardinal rules
    - attending plant and department communication meetings
    - completing all computer-based training (CEL) requirements on time
  • Safely operate a variety of equipment including reactors, blend tanks, an extruder, and a variety of ancillary equipment while conducting process scale-up activities on the Estane Pilot Line.
  • Communicate effectively with the day staff, Line 6 foreman, maintenance, and QC department. Willing to accept and act upon constructive feedback.
  • Ensures effective shift turn-over through written and oral communications to incoming shift: discuss problems faced, review unit operating conditions, etc
  • Troubleshoot process/equipment problems and make minor repairs.
  • Interface with the process equipment through DeltaV DCS system.
  • Reconfigure extruder equipment as needed for each specific product.
  • Record accurate data on the product run packets.
  • Perform on-line and finished goods QC testing.
  • Monitor product quality specifications and adjust as required.
  • Identify non-conformances to ensure customer complaints are minimized.
  • Utilize creative problem-solving skills to troubleshoot new products and to suggest process and product improvements to engineers.
  • Report production, ship product, and enter maintenance work orders through SAP.
  • Complete daily housekeeping tasks.
  • Active participant in continuous improvement initiatives such as Leader Standard Work, 5S and other ongoing programs.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Requirements:

  • High school diploma from an accredited school or GED.
  • Candidates for this position must successfully pass assessment tests and be in good standing.
  • Maintains a consistent positive attitude.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a larger team.
  • Good mechanical aptitude skills, with ability to effectively troubleshoot, solve process and equipment problems.
  • Demonstrates good judgement in elevating operational and safety issues to immediate management.
  • Reliable and willing to work consistent overtime.
  • Proven to be well organized with a high level of accuracy for data entry.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong team player with proven capability to work with others.
  • Understanding of the QC tests and basic chemistry involved in TPU production.
  • PC skills to use Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Teams.
  • SAP experience is beneficial. Ability to be trained on SAP to a high level of accuracy for data entry.
  • Understand the general concepts of ISO 9001 systems and procedures.
  • Ability to lift 55 lb. buckets/bags and drive a forklift on a regular basis.
  • Work a flexible 12-hour schedule to support department manufacturing operations.


  Considered a Plus:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Estane polymerization lines, compounding lines, raw material areas and utilities is essential.
  • Associate technical degree or equivalent experience/education.
  • Knowledge of TPU chemistry and processing.
  • Extrusion and/or polymer testing experience.
  • Solid understanding of chemistry and chemical hazards.
