Title:  Indirect Procurement Specialist

Department:  Procurement                               Reports to:  Midwest Indirect Stores Manager


Looking for an ideal team player who would report to the Midwest Indirect Stores Manager.  Responsible for representing Lubrizol to supply base and facilitating the procurement of indirect goods and service.  This individual will have accountability to procure a broad range of equipment, supplies and services in support of organization objectives and plant operations.  In addition, this individual will be responsible for ensuring that relationships between the company and vendors are maintained in a manner consistent with corporate policies, procedures and quality standards.

Perform assignments related to the procurement of goods and services including but not limited to negotiation and implementation of regional and national agreements, purchase of capital equipment, and contracting services required by Lubrizol’s chemical plants nationally.  The individual shall work within the framework of the projects with multiple disciplinary teams (maintenance, project engineering, IT, legal, finance, etc.) to deliver an optimized solution from the total cost of ownership (TCO) and reduce operational risk to manufacturing plants and project engineering team.


Key Job Accountabilities

  • Act professionally in all work activities in a legal and ethical manner in compliance with applicable laws and support compliance of all corporate policies and regional/local Health, Safety, Environmental and Security practices.
  • Ability to research and identify capable vendors or contractors and initiate selection, prequalification and approval of new vendors
  • Manage all Requisitions which employ Material Groups that this position has assigned Responsibility for.
  • Utilize Lubrizol Alliance suppliers with direction from Corporate Procurement. May include quoting and introducing suppliers to internal customers.
  • Develop, issue, and manage both the internal RFI and electronic Request for Information, Request for Quote, and Request for Proposal processes for the selection of goods and services.
  • Continuously track reviewed cost savings from Requisition changes and log on internal reporting system.
  • Work with requisitioners to identify opportunity for cost savings, manage blanket PO process for end users, work on pricing updates with suppliers, and general maintenance of a requisition with end users.
  • Provide Live Ariba and S4 training when needed with internal customers.
  • Work with AP to timely clear all invoice errors that arise to the assigned Purchasing Group.
  • Log and Track all Non-Conformity logged complaints assigned to the responsible facility. Work with Suppliers and Corporate Procurement to ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Manage over Expediting Report to keep record on all Past Due POs.
  • Work with assigned Supplier Evaluations yearly in order to maintain strong working relationship with partnered suppliers.
  • Collect, analyze, and assure quality and accuracy of the spend analysis where applicable
  • Leading multiple cross-functional procurement teams; actively driving procurement standardization and consolidation opportunities.
  • Gather market data for assigned spend categories and provide market insight to Procurement manager and strategic buyers
  • Foster a culture of teamwork with internal customers to achieve the scope, quality, schedule, and the lowest total cost of ownership objectives.
  • Educate project team members on Lubrizol’s procurement policies and procedures

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 4-year college degree from an accredited institution in supply chain, logistics, finance, accounting, business, economics, engineering or other technical discipline.
  • Minimum of one year of related indirect procurement experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in a Matrixed organization
  • Strong purchasing knowledge and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to relate well with individuals at various levels, inside and outside of the organization.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient with SAP or Ariba
