What You'll Do:

As a Global Project Development Director, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, responsible for working with “clients” to define and develop key strategic, high value and high-risk projects from conceptual ideas and feasibility to a defined project that is ready for detailed design, procurement, and construction execution. This role will focus on the development and implementation of Best-In-Class operations within our organization of subject matter experts, engineers, project managers, and integrated personnel to consistently deliver as a Solutions Provider that exceeds organizations expectations. The Director of Project Development will have the responsibility to work with external engineering firms, members of our interdisciplinary engineering team, estimators, schedulers, PM’s and construction experts, all working to develop the best possible collaborative delivery of project development. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Work with business, R&D, and operations leaders to develop clear project scopes that address the most important business needs.
  • Deploy an existing network of Global Engineering and Project management resources to develop and support existing and new projects.
  • Present and defend projects for executive leadership review and approval.  Compose and present regular updates and critical gate reviews.
  • Develop and execute a communication and project management training plan, ensuring team members are informed of strategy, shared goals, objectives, individual responsibilities, best practices, and policies.
  • Oversee the monitoring and reporting on progress of projects against the execution plan; direct project teams on taking appropriate corrective action if progress is not in line with the plan.
  • Contract and Scope Change Management: develop and champion best practices to identify, control, and communicate changes to project contract obligations and project design scope.
  • Engage with third party engineers, vendors, and OEM’s to understand their development processes, procedures and tools to integrate them into our approach; identify industry best practices and incorporate into our continuous improvement effort.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, process, chemical, civil/structural, or electrical engineering, or related field
  • 20+ years of experience leading global teams in an engineering or project management function.
  • 4+ yrs of overseas assignment experience leading project and engineering teams preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in managing an engineering and design team of at least 20 or more
  • 8+ years’ experience performing engineering-related design or management within the industrial market
  • Demonstrated track record of leading $150M+ international manufacturing projects.
  • Experience with multiple project execution methods such as Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, EPC, EPCm
  • Experience leading greenfield projects
