What You'll Do:

 

As a Plant Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation by managing the Operations Pillars of Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Excellence and People to deliver top quartile performance in personal and process safety, quality, and reliability. Safety is the highest priority for this role and the Plant Manager takes the lead to establish the safety culture. The Plant Manager enables continuous improvement in people, processes, and assets to reduce risk and meet customer needs. The Plant Manager is a critical opportunity requiring significant interaction with all levels of the facility and collaboration across the broader organization. 

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Develop and cascade a vision for the site encompassing safety, quality and reliability goals. Utilize metrics to measure and drive progress.
  • Create a culture of commitment to safety and risk reduction to reduce OSHA recordables, lost time accidents and process safety incidents year over year.
  • Ensure everyone on site is actively engaged in safety improvements.
  • Provide leadership for the implementation and maturation of process safety programs.
  • Drive standardization through implementation of Lubrizol’s Operating System and collaboration with Corporate Support Groups and other sites.
  • Lead compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements and operating permits.
  • Leverage management systems (ISO-9001, RC-14001) to improve and lower risk.
  • Actively manage the annual budget. Monitor, evaluate, and control plant expenses. 
  • Direct productivity improvements to improve efficiency without impacting performance.
  • Manage the site capital budget, ensure projects are implemented on time and on budget.
  • Build a quality culture that reduces non-conforming and non-working slow moving material.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement to achieve top quartile customer service.
  • Drive improvement in asset reliability with a focus on OEE. 
  • Identify opportunities to modernize and or automate processes and systems.
  • Ensure mechanical integrity and reliability programs are supporting asset OEE and process safety improvement. Planned maintenance is executed on time and within budget.  
  • Foster continuous improvement through implementation and maturation of Lubrizol’s Core Elements (Problem Solving, 5S, Standard Work, and Lubrizol’s Operating System).
  • Maintain a diverse, inclusive, and positive work environment that creates a high level of employee engagement.
  • Encourage and assist in the development of the team, provide professional development opportunities and training for all employees.
  • Coordinate workforce and succession plans for critical positions.
  • Work with Operations Director and other Plant Managers to share best practices and leverage learnings form operational experiences.
  • Act as a partner for the business using a collaborative approach

 

Skills That Make a Difference: 

  • A safety-first mindset and history of driving safety improvements.
  • Knowledge of process safety and risk management.
  • Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • 10 years of experience working in a chemical plant and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead, influence and build high performing teams.
  • Strong structured problem-solving skills and experience in the application of continuous improvement tools.
  • Drive to continuously learn and challenge status quo.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship building.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt and grow from adversity. 
  • Solid communication skills, willing to engage one-on-one, and listen to front-line employees.
  • Flexibility and commitment to work outside of normal work hours as required.
  • Knowledge of chemistry and process technology, as applicable.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft tool suite.
  • Knowledge of SAP is considered a plus.
  • Project and change management experience is considered a plus.
