The Clinical Research Manager is responsible for leading a clinical research team in conducting clinical trials to substantiate the performance of active ingredients and finished formulation. This position works closely with the global and regional technical community, commercial team, and customers to establish project pipeline, prioritize resource and progress key projects towards desired financial results. This position is responsible for overseeing clinical trials, ensure that all studies are conducted in accordance with scientific principles and regulatory guidelines, monitor the progress of each trial to ensure it meets its stated goals, and manage all aspects of data collection and analysis to deliver results from key projects and enhance the profitability for Beauty Care business globally and regionally. The goal is to position Lubrizol stronger in the active ingredient market, and enhance our influence in beauty care industry by establishing strong clinical expertise.  

 

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Lead and manage Regional Clinical Research center and develop long-term strategy aligned with business growth goals and priorities.
  • Plan, develop, and manage the in vivo studies, supervise the technical team engaged in the execution of research and clinical protocol.
  • Develop budgets, operating procedures, and funding mechanisms, and define the adequate protocol, methodology and equipment, to support the expected ingredient/ formulation performance.
  • Accountable for the oversight of analysis, interpretation, and report out the study data; and lead Laboratory Document Control to maintain laboratory records, reports, and files.
  • Conduct research programs to understand skin specifics (related to age, phototype, ethnicity, etc) and best methods to support them.
  • Identify cutting edge technology to demonstrate actives/formulations performance.
  • Be the focal point with the ethical committee, to gain approval for the testing proposals.
  • Establish strong connection with the regional/global marketing and global R&D to ensure alignment on focus, timely information exchange and collaboration.
  • Organize appropriate trainings to ensure that employee competencies are maintained annually.
  • Handle and coordinate the resolution of complex issues. Addresses systems issues; troubleshoots problems and/or arranges for technical service.
  • Maintain lab health and safety by performing regular safety inspections and adhering to safety standards.

Requirements – Education, Experience and Skills

  • PhD or Degree in Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or similar. 
  • Experience of at least 5 years in claim substantiation in vivo lab (skin care, hair care/cleansing is a plus)
  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures of clinical research, design of experiments and cosmetics regulatory
  • Strong analysis skills, preferred experience in data analysis and/or computer vision
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Well-organized person, proactive, able to assume responsibilities and with good tolerance to change.
  • Advanced English level (both oral and written).
  • Knowledge of GraphPad Prism and some image analysis software will be a plus.
