What You'll Do:

      As a Project Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation. This position will report to the Engineering Manager and will be responsible for implementing both capital and expense projects throughout the plant to improve safety, maintain or expand capacity, improve productivity, improve quality and decrease costs.  A broad engineering knowledge and project management skills are required to meet these Plant goals.      

 

     The Project Engineer will work in a collaborative manner with the project sponsor, process engineers, HSE&S personnel, maintenance coordinators, craftsmen, purchasing representatives, Corporation lawyers, contractors, vendors, and other engineering firms. Project Engineers also provide strategic input into the development and execution of the site capital plan.         

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Contributing to Plant HSE&S goals of zero life altering and process safety incidents by participating in safety observations, focused safety audits, PSSR, PHA, PSM audits, etc.
  • Participating as part of a team to identify process improvement opportunities, and determining the specific scope of work to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Preparing, submitting and evaluating Design-Build proposals for the defined scope of work.    
  • Preparing and submitting a request for capital including a scope, cost estimate, HSE&S checklist, schedule and all other required project documents. 
  • Participating in the evaluation and selection of equipment and contractors.
  • Participating in Corporate Purchasing and Legal contract reviews.    
  • Supervising construction contractors to install equipment according to specifications in compliance with safe work practices.      
  • Participate in project start-up activities.
  • Managing all capital projects to closure at or below budget and within the specified project schedule.         
  • Providing technical assistance to the production and maintenance areas for equipment performance issues, problem solving, energy usage optimization, etc.      

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of engineering experience including project management and at least 3 years at a chemical manufacturing or industrial facility.   
  • Familiarity with unit operations and the ability to learn and understand the intricacies of specific chemical process operations.
  • Able to communicate to stakeholders (management, scientists, engineers, chemical operators, and maintenance personal).
  • Ability to follow several projects at the same time keeping them all on schedule and controlling project costs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot automated, electrical, mechanical, and chemical systems.
  • Ability to assist start-up activities.
