What You'll Do:

As a Control Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving development and support of control systems and automation for wide ranging test rigs from single component through to engine installations. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. Your work will directly impact the development of advanced lubricants and fuels to improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

You will be working at Lubrizol’s European Test Facility, working as part of the test organisation that completes thousands of tests annually in support of the development of speciality chemicals primarily for transportation lubricants and fuels. The tests range from single components to engines and transmissions. In this role you will utilise your experience of working with test equipment and infrastructure control systems, you will provide technical direction and support to the test operation to ensure that the test cell and test rig conditions are controlled in line with test specifications. This will involve working with suppliers to specify and design control systems, installation, and commissioning of equipment through to on-going support. The role demands a blend of control and electrical system knowledge with hands-on practical experience and skills.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Knowledge to support the design and installation of automotive test rigs utilising a range of technical skills including electrical, control systems and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting and problem resolution skills to maintain test operations by solving complex problems and delivering effective solutions.
  • Ability to technically lead new capability and equipment renewal /replacement projects.
  • Able to plan and coordinate own activities and providing technical direction to others.
  • Constantly seeking new and better approaches to work that increase operational efficiency through adopting Lean principles and leading continuous improvement activity.
  • Ability to communicates effectively with the department stakeholders on equipment, resource, and technical issues.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • Ideally educated to Degree level in an Engineering discipline including electrical/ electronic modules.
  • Practical experience of electrical/electronic installations; may have completed a recognized apprenticeship with industrial experience.
  • Knowledgeable in control, automotive, and mechanical systems related to test installations including signal conditioning and data acquisition.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to lead, coach, and train others.
  • Demonstrated organisational and planning skills including capital projects.
  • Good IT skills utilising MS Office applications.
  • Likely to hold or pursuing professional recognition and Chartered Engineer status.
