What You'll Do:

 

As a Health, Safety, Environmental & Security Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation by providing technical expertise in the development and implementation of the facility’s Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security programs and initiatives. In addition, the Health, Safety, Environmental & Security Specialist will be highly involved with training, development, and maintenance of the sites HSES management systems. The Health, Safety, Environmental & Security Specialist is responsible for supporting continuous improvement in the plant safety performance and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. As the Health, Safety, Environmental & Security Specialist, you will be the boots on the ground for the HSES department

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Ensure compliance with all existing and future applicable laws and regulations of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ), the Occupational Safety and Health Organization (OSHA) and Lubrizol standards and policies
  • Provide technical support and training to plant personnel regarding HSES regulations and standards.
  • Leading hazard assessment activities that include safety inspections, investigations, industrial hygiene surveys and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Maintaining, updating and ensuring compliance with site safety process that include hazard communications, confined space entry, hot work, lockout/tagout, and working at heights.
  • Ensuring compliance with all HSES regulatory programs that include OSHA, medical surveillance, PSM, RMP, DOT, TSCA, SPCC, SWPP and RCRA.
  • Interface with government agencies and the public on environmental matters and requirements related to operations at the facility.
  • Provide training and mentoring to new hires in safety, security, company policy, procedures, work instructions, forklift, packaging related skills along with manufacturing topics through hands-on and classroom-based learning.
  • Providing orientation and instructional courses for new and existing employees in all departments by utilizing CEL or creating new content including planning, developing and implementing annual required training programs.
  • Participate in site safety committee meetings and ensure adequate response to safety concerns.
  • Partner with all levels of the plant to support the facility’s compliance with RC14001.
  • Assist the HSES manager with site security programs and improvements.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the HSES Manager

 

Skills That Make a Difference: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field. In-lieu of technical degree, 3+ years of applicable experience working in chemical manufacturing industry will be considered.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft office suite.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter that can work independently and, in a team, environment.
  • Understanding of RC14001, ISO45001 or ISO14001
