Production Operator

 

Job Summary:  The Tank Farm Operator is responsible for providing internal and external customer service of the safe and efficient operation of the raw material and finished products storage tanks onsite which support receiving, delivery, sampling, production, and environmental operations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Manages day-to-day operations of tank farm loading, unloading, and transfer throughout the site

* Manages raw material inventories for storage, production requests, and customer delivery orders   by forecasting, ordering materials, coordinating delivery, unloading railcars and tank trucks, and sampling for quality control for delivery orders and in-plant storage usage.

* Maintains accurate inventory accounting and usage of raw material transfers

* BL-4 processing of sulfurized products unit which processes 157.30, 157.42, 151.80, and 151.85 intermediates.  BL-4 system includes a reactor, filter tank and vent system.  The make-up of these intermediates consists of charging all the components and sulfur, heating of materials, and then allowing the components to react under a controlled exotherm.

* Manages communication inside and outside of the department

* Ensures operating equipment in the department is properly maintained and operational

* Participates in various audits both internal and external related to department standards and regulatory compliance

* Supports capital projects that add to or modify equipment and support systems

* Contributes to document revisions related to training, departmental policies, and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)

* Prepares equipment for maintenance utilizing Lock Out procedures

* Prepares work permits such as Hot Work, Line Break, Lock Out/Tag Out, Safe Work

* Works closely with Environmental Operations, Mechanical Testing, and Plant Maintenance to coordinate/schedule preventative maintenance and shutdowns in respective areas

 

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

* Highschool diploma or equivalent from an accredited school

* Experience working in chemical or manufacturing industry preferred

* Ability to analyze and solve problems

* Basic math and reading skills

* Basic mechanical aptitude

* Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

* Initiative-taker with ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives

 

Considered a Plus:

* Experience with transfers between railcars, tank trucks, storage tanks

* Experience with DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation

* Previous forklift and tow motor experience

* Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote)

* Familiar with EPA Spill Prevention Countermeasure and Controls (SPCC) requirements

* Experience with SAP

* Experience with monitoring and operating control systems

* Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)

 

Working Conditions:

* Willing/able to work majority outdoors in inclement weather

* Willing/able to be on call during nights/weekends/extended hours as needed

* Ability to climb stairs

* Ability to lift 50 lbs

* Must maintain PPE expectations when working in specific areas
