Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide process safety support for assigned units, including:
    • Facilitate both revalidation and project Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Dust Hazard Analyses (DHA), Layer of Protection Analyses (LOPA), and prepare for and Complete Reports
    • Participate in incident investigations, help classify incidents regarding Process Safety Tier 1, 2, or 3 per API Recommended Practice 754
    • Review Management of Change Orders, help determine when a Process Hazard Analysis is needed.
    • Update Reactivity Matrices as needed for assigned units.
    • Support Mechanical Integrity and Independent Protection Layer initiatives providing technical expertise and guidance to other departments.
    • Enter action items as needed into tracking database and work with units to facilitate closure.
    • Participate/lead technical committees such as the Fired Equipment & Venting Committee, Chlorine Standards Committee, Piping & Instrument Diagram, or others.
    • Participate in regional and global process safety committees to present information and to ensure company standardization of process safety practices.
    • Lead site efforts towards Siting Studies, Area Classification, or other process safety related initiatives.
    • Support Risk Management Program (RMP) filing for changes and resubmission – Develop RMP Scenarios
    • Process Safety Management System Auditing (Local and Off-Site)
    • PSM Manual Updates/Revision

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Education Requirements:

  • BS or higher degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 4+ years’ experience at a manufacturing site or process safety related field
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with other departments to accomplish goals (Operations, Engineering, Environmental, Maintenance)

 

Considered A Plus:

  • Familiarity with PHA Works, PHA Pro, PHAST Dispersion Modeling, or similar software packages.
  • Experience leading process hazard analyses or developing site process safety programs.
