Quality Control Chemist

COMPANY INFORMATION AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

This position will report to the Bowling Green Quality Supervisor. The goals of this position are to provide quality control support to the Bowling Green facility.

Other duties include:

• Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other chemists and plant personnel.
• Analyze incoming raw materials, in-process batches, as well as finished goods using a variety of instrumental and wet testing methods.
• Determine and calculate appropriate additions to batches.
• Approve products for release.
• Approve raw materials for receiving.
• Handle multiple tests and products simultaneously.
• Perform proper microbiological plating techniques and reading determinations.
• Observe all safety rules and work in a conscientious manner.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab analytical instruments.
• Perform other duties as required and directed by the Quality Supervisor or Quality Manager.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

• BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field.
• Experience in biology, chemistry, biochemistry testing techniques.
• Must be extremely detail-oriented.
• Possess strong PC skills including Microsoft Office.
• Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends.
• Willingness to work overtime, with or without advance notice.
• Ability to work as an integral part of a team.
• Possess strong analytical problem solving and mathematical skills.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Excellent reading skills with ability to comprehend analytical procedures and technical instructions
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time throughout the 12hr. shift.

Considered a plus:

• Experience with lab instrumentation including GC, HPLC, FT-IR, UV-vis, Brookfield viscometers, and auto titrators.
